Product Validation: Shared Taxi Solution

Challenge: A mobility startup needed to validate their shared taxi app concept, understand user behaviour patterns, and optimise product usability before full market deployment.

Approach: Supported grant funding application, conducted user research on shared taxi behaviour and attitudes, usability testing of Alpha product, and online analytics tracking webapp interactions. Identified critical adoption variables, then validated through real-world testing and walkthroughs after implementation.

Outcomes

  • Secured grant funding for product development

  • Identified 3 critical variables required for passenger adoption with one user group

  • The development team implemented variables based on research findings

  • Usability improvements made from testing feedback

  • Deployment achieved: users acquired, early concierge trips completed

  • Business traction: early revenue, market validation, partners, investment secured and further grant funding

  • Validated product-market fit for shared taxi journeys from rail stations

“They helped us with grant funding. On this project, we used the research services, which were new to us as we hadn’t used user research before this project to develop one of our in-house projects.

I was really surprised and intrigued by the insights that they had found for us. They really challenged our assumptions and gave us something concrete to work with when iterating the Alpha product, based on evidence.

We felt reassured that the iterations of the product are in line with user needs, and our future product roadmap is based on evidence rather than assumptions. In the future, we’ll certainly do user research again as we gained so much from it.”
