Product Validation: Human-centred AI for travel

Challenge: Combine AI, an AI software studio developing AI/ML products for daily scheduling, needed to understand user needs and validate product direction to inform UX design and ensure market fit.

Approach Innovate UK Design Foundations grant project applying design thinking methodology to explore user problems and experiences across key user groups for AI-powered scheduling solutions.

Outcomes

  • 20 users researched across personal assistants and busy professionals

  • Specific user needs identified for scheduling challenges

  • Product design informed by findings considering API technical viability

  • AI/ML products developed for travel planning, with AI adding travel around meetings and dealing with meeting changes

  • Products adapted and relaunched

  • Market validation: >1000 users, adoption rates, usage metrics and cult-like following with competitors on the horizon such as Reclaim

  • Business results: revenue, customer traction, follow-on funding from Innovate UK to add technology to a new product
